America

America's identity is built around diplomatic flexibility rather than a single fixed strategy, converting government structure itself into a Diplomatic Favor engine.

Unique Ability

"Founding Fathers" converts every Diplomatic policy slot in the current government into a Wildcard slot, and grants +1 Diplomatic Favor per turn for each Wildcard slot. Lincoln's own leader ability, "Emancipation Proclamation," gives Industrial Zones +2 Amenities and +3 Loyalty per turn (at the cost of -2 Loyalty from Plantations), plus a free, resource-free Melee unit with +5 Combat Strength whenever an Industrial Zone or its buildings are built.

Unique Unit: P-51 Mustang

An Atomic era air unit replacing the Fighter, with +5 Combat Strength against other fighter aircraft, +2 flight range, and +50% experience.

Unique Infrastructure: Film Studio

A unique building granting +100% Tourism pressure from that city toward other civilizations once the game reaches the Modern era.

How to Play America

  • Treat Wildcard-converted policy slots as a real strategic asset — they let America adapt its government to whatever the current game state rewards better than almost any other civilization.
  • Build up Industrial Zones deliberately under Lincoln — the free combat units add up into a real military over a long game, not just a side effect.
  • Note that Teddy Roosevelt is available as an alternate leader with different bonuses (national park yields as "Bull Moose," or a war-focused "Rough Rider" persona) if you want a different American playstyle.
