Egypt

Egypt's real bonus isn't cheaper Wonders — a common misconception — it's a Production boost for districts and Wonders built next to a River, plus immunity to Flood damage.

Unique Ability

"Iteru": +15% Production toward districts and Wonders built adjacent to a River, and no damage taken from Floods. Ramesses II's own ability, "Abu Simbel," converts a share of construction cost directly into Culture — 15% for regular buildings, 30% for Wonders — every time one finishes.

Unique Unit: Maryannu Chariot Archer

An Ancient era ranged unit unlocked by The Wheel, with 4 Movement when starting its turn in open terrain.

Unique Infrastructure: Sphinx

A unique improvement granting Faith and Culture, plus Appeal, with a further Faith bonus next to a Wonder and a Culture bonus on Floodplains — it also produces Tourism once Flight is researched.

How to Play Egypt

  • Settle and build along rivers deliberately — the Production bonus to districts and Wonders is the actual engine behind an Egyptian game, not a cost discount.
  • Build Amphitheaters and Art Museums early so you have somewhere to put the Great Works your Wonder-heavy capital will attract.
  • A Culture Victory is a natural endpoint under Ramesses II specifically, since Culture from construction stacks directly with Wonder-heavy play.
